- Fall Career Expo and Fair

Wednesday in October, in conjunction with National Disability Awareness
Month and Disability Mentoring Day, Alamo Area Disability Alliance will
sponsor a one-day Career Expo and Job Fair.

- Modeling
from our first annual event on October 17, 2007, this October Expo will
be a one-day event, to include an opening address, employer discussion
panel, resource and assistive technology demonstration area,
“employer’s only” forum discussion, and an afternoon job fair open to
Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DRS & DBS)
active and prospective consumers who are interested in seeking
employment opportunities.

5-hour (10am-3pm) job fair open to Department of Assistive and
Rehabilitative Services (DRS & DBS) active and prospective
consumers who are interested in seeking employment opportunities.

ceremonies for this event will include any awards or recognitions to
local employers for their outstanding commitment to diversifying their
workforce.

Job Seeker Preparation Workshops “Prep-Rallies”
Prior to job fair events, Alamo Area Disability Alliance will sponsor
bi-annual workshops dedicated to increasing DARS’ consumers’ confidence
and knowledge when participating in a job/career fair.

- Topics
will include items such as professional appearance, disclosure issues,
resume development, and other information that will benefit persons
with disabilities seeking employment opportunities.

- Workshops
will be scheduled 2-4 weeks prior to the event, and the number of
workshops will be determined by consumer/staff ratio and accommodation
needs.
