We are excited to announce the new formation of the Alamo Area Disabiliy Alliance.

Taking from the success built by 2007 Disability Career Expo, this alliance was formed to continue the effort at eliminating employment barriers for persons with disabilities within the San Antonio area.

The Alamo Area Disability Alliance consists of three partnering board members:

I.    Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS)-Division for Blind Services

II.   Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services(DARS)-Division for Rehabilitation Services

III.  Alamo WorkSource

In addition to our executive board and steering committee, several associate members, consisting of area organizations aligned with our efforts have partnered in the alliance.

With continued growth, we hope to include area employers, resources, and other organizations to join our partnership in the future.

Once again, we thank you for your support!

Mission Statement

To work in collaboration with Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services consumers, area employers, local workforce agency, and rehabilitation organizations to eliminate employment barriers and increase career opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Guiding Principles

  1. Organize, promote, and host two annual career fair events, exclusively for persons who are current and prospective Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services consumers with disabilities, where they may showcase their ability, experience, and potential to area employers.
  2. Aim to decrease the unemployment and underemployment of persons with disabilities through advocacy, networking, and employer education.
  3.  Work in partnership with area employers to diversify their workforce through elimination of workforce barriers, consultation on accommodations, access to information and resources, and connection to qualified applicants.
